How can it be that I can't paste my account password in the login screen but have to enter it manually instead? This is a hugr security risk as it promotes usage of passwords that are easy to remember rather than relying on a password manager. I thought I give Polymail another try after I was really not happy with it a year ago but I was really surprised to discover that my same complaints are still valid: If there’s venture capital involved, I’d hope someone reconsiders whether Email is worth financing. Even worse, you’ll receive a never ending flow of emails from founder Brandon Foo, but trying to this app him directly - finding his address is easy - generates no response. But Polymail may or may not respond on Monday. Have a problem on a weekend? Good luck! Even Airmail people respond. And their responses are often non-sensible. Are only available via online chat from the website. I’m a paying customer and can assert that I would not be surprised if Polymail goes the way of Astro, Newton, and all the other paid apps. Makes you wonder if the Polymail is going Polybyebye.Įmail is not ready for prime time. There are constant errors with badges reflecting completely incorrect message counts. UPDATE September 20, 2021: It seems this is becoming abandoned-ware. I’m finally making the jump from Mac Mail, but it won’t be to this. I have four jobs, which is an immense amount of information to keep organized I need all my mail in one place. One of my employers uses Exchange, it can’t be configured as IMAP, and Polymail could give no definitive answer as to when Exchange support would be forthcoming, though they’ve been talking about it since 2016. But no support for Exchange is a deal breaker. So for that, and the beautiful interface, I could have lived with the bugs in the hopes they would work them out eventually. All that was dwarfed, though, by the excellent sender profile feature, especially the ability to access all files a contact has ever sent you in a single list just by opening the profile window, which in turn can be opened through any message from that contact. It often loads mail extremely slowly (so much so that sometimes, the notification pops up before the message is available). Loved it on the trial run (and I greatly appreciate the free trial). Many little UI bugs that appear when you try to import and edit recipients for campaigns/sequences.I so wanted to make this my this app app. Should have never been released to the customers like that. SO basically the message I created was altered by the system. Images that I had added to a message that was sent out to many many people were missing, simply gone by the time the sequence was sent out. This function should be disabled at this point. But go ahead and send this message and open it in another email client: the images are distorted/stretched beyond recognition. Two examples: You can no resize/scale images inside a message. I get the feeling that they are too excited to launch new functions and ignore the basics of quality control. The User-Interface is, to say it mildly, not very intuitive. The campaigns and sequences are a great promotion tool. As a subscription customer you can see who and when someone opened your mail, if the clicked a link, downloaded a file - brilliant for business use. When I really need to know if an attachment has been downloaded or when I need to get a message to many people. Excited at first and way too often frustrated with a bloated and unintuitive application. It’s so easy to set up for any action, and it gives you a much greater level of control over a non-Apple keyboard. You can re-assign keys as you wish all you need to do is click on “+ Add New Shortcut”, input the “Keyboard Shortcut” you want (in my case, I chose F12 for increasing volume) and selecting the “Trigger Predefined Action” as “Volume Up” from the drop-down menu. Using the app, I’ve been able to remap the keyboard’s F-keys to work just like on an Apple keyboard F10, F11 & F13 keys for volume settings, and F7, F8 & F9 for playback controls. BetterTouchTool’s interface can be overwhelming at first, but offers a lot of functionality once you get used to it With the help of my good friend Pedro Lobo, I found my saving grace a free Mac app called BetterTouchTool that essentially allows you to configure gestures and controls for your trackpad/mouse, Apple Remote, Leap Motion and keyboard. I tried configuring the keyboard shortcuts on my Mac’s settings but it just wouldn’t work, so I resorted to searching for third party apps to do it instead. Unsurprisingly, the keyboard I bought is made for Windows, meaning there’s none of the Mac OS X functionality I’ve grown used to like media controls, brightness settings, Mission Control and so on. Still, I’ve started to do so much typing work lately that I wanted to see whether a mechanical keyboard would be more comfortable over extended periods of use. It’s been an odd transition for me, probably because I’ve become so accustomed to using Apple’s flatter, chiclet-style keyboard over the last couple of years. Blame it on nostalgia if you will, but I recently decided to pick up a cheap mechanical keyboard from my local tech store to use with my Mac. A more recent 64-bit version was released with WM Encoder 9 圆4 and IS VC-1 compliant (although not much different than the original). The first version that was released with WMP10 in fall 2004 was not VC-1 compliant (the VC-1 draft was only being submitted to SMPTE at the time). WMVA is the FourCC code of Microsoft's Windows Media Video Advanced Profile codec. It's compatible with both Windows Media Format SDK and DirectShow, but so far it hasn't really caught on outside of Microsoft. Because of its maturity, AVI still enjoys the widest support, so many people still prefer VCM codec interfaces.ĭMO is DirectX Media Object, the latest Microsoft format for codecs and transform filters. A lot of apps, such as VirtualDub, can only use VfW/VCM/ACM for compression and AVI as container. VCM is the Video Compression Manager, an old Video for Windows (dates to early 1990s) interface for video codecs. Whats a VCM? Whats a WMVA? Could someone explain all these terms? :)Īnyways, I dont understand half of these terms. The fact that I can act here as a liaison to the MS codec group - that's just an added perk of my job. I'm here primarily because I've been a Doom9 forum member for many years, even before I joined MS. Sorry if I don't always make that clear, but I'd hate for people to think that I'm here as an official spokesperson or something (or even worse, that I'm here to push a corporate agenda). I am a software test engineer in the video codec group. Hey Zambelli do you work for Microsoft or something? Because you live in Seattle, and your avatar is Windows Media. TBI is also associated with secondary injury that evolves over a period of hours to days to even months after the primary insult, and is the result of biochemical and physiological events which ultimately lead to neuronal cell death. Primary injury is the result of immediate mechanical damage that occurs at the time of injury. TBI results in functional deficits due to both primary and secondary mechanisms. TBI results from direct impact to the head or from acceleration-deceleration injury. Thus, the development of improved treatment modalities would be of enormous clinical and economic benefit. To date, there is no effective treatment to promote functional recovery except for routine medical intervention and care. Natural recovery after TBI is greatest within the first 6 months after the injury and is more gradual after that, but outcome varies with different types of brain injury. The most common cognitive impairment among severe TBI patients is memory loss, characterized by some loss of specific memories and the partial inability to form or store new ones. The most prevalent and debilitating features in survivors of brain trauma are cognitive deficits and motor dysfunctions. Thus, TBI is a significant health concern and an enormous socioeconomic burden. In addition, TBI is an epigenetic risk factor for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. An estimated 1.4 million people sustain TBI each year in the United States alone, and more than 5 million people are coping with disabilities from TBI and costs $56 billion a year A review of European epidemiological data estimated a TBI incidence (hospitalized and fatal) of 235 per 100,000 per year and a case fatality rate of 11 per 100 with 775,500 new cases occurring each year. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is the leading cause of death and disability in the most active population (<45 years of age). Not sure which version to choose? See the Rocket Chat website for information. Replace the exact version number with the X’s in the command. To get a specific version of RocketChat through a Docker container, you’ll need to specify the version number. Su docker pull rocketchat/rocket.chat:latest Taking a specific version Once installed, extract the latest RocketChat container. To get started, make sure you have Docker installed on your Linux server (or Linux desktop). Rather, everything you need is in one compact container. No need to manually install and configure things like Nginx. Like the Snap version, those who choose to pull the server software via Docker Hub will get a (mostly) preconfigured chat server setup. Those who do not want to install Rocket Chat on the server via manual configuration, but also do not want to use snapshots, have a second option for quick and easy installation: RocketChat via Docker Containers. Sudo snap install rocketchat-desktop Installing RocketChat via a Docker container Like the server software, the desktop client can be easily installed using snap. With snapd running, simply install the latest version of the RocketChat server software:Īlthough this guide focuses primarily on running the server software, many people will also want to learn how to install the Linux desktop client. Then follow our guide on how to set up Snaps. To install RocketChat server software on your Linux server, first find out if you can actually run snapd (probably can). Also, it’s now easier than ever for most Linux distributions to easily install and grab these packages. In fact, many different server tools are slowly making their way to the Snap store. Many Linux users may scoff at using Snaps on a server, but they’re not just for the desktop. If you’re just looking to install the software and get started, running Ubuntu snappacks on a server is a great way to get around the tedious setup process. It requires a lot of manual configuration and otherwise some initial manual configuration. RocketChat server software can be very tedious to run. It is an open source collaborative chat software similar to Slack with a bunch of similar features like video conferencing, multiple chat channels, DM support, voice calls, and more. Want to host your own team chat instead of relying on services like Slack etc.? Consider trying RocketChat.
